You are invited to enjoy an extended time of rest, silence, and solitude in your own private cottage here at The Layne. The cottage may be reserved for the purposes of rest and contemplation, for personal retreats, for healing and restoration, or pastors and other ministry leaders as working retreats. Within blocks from the cottage, you will find Volunteer Park, Interlaken Park, Boren Park, Lakeview Cemetery, the labyrinth at St Mark's Cathedral, and the sanctuary at St Joseph's are all available for your times of prayer. But what is the season of Easter, the days between Easter and Pentacost truly like? What is it like for you? Sometimes, what is "in season" in the world around us is "out of season" in the world within us. Sometimes, our interior seasons last three months. At times, 3 days, and at other times, 3 years. What season are you in? Join us as we make sense of our inner and outer worlds together.

According to the liturgical calendar, we find ourselves in "ordinary time"; season where we focus on Jesus' ministry and teaching as He reveals his new kingdom. In spiritual direction, we notice the rhythms of nature around us. Summer becomes the season of "Rejoicing". The crops and flowers, the weather, everything in abundance. Our lives don't often match with the season of the year, but our lives move in and out of all four seasons. Join us this "summer" whatever season you find yourself to be in.

Pastoral Staff and Leadership Retreats with Soul Care Seattle at The Layne are a perfect opportunity for your leaders to gather seeking the face of God and being with the face of each other. Available in half day or full day formats, The Layne comfortably accommodates up to 20 individuals with group meeting space and break out spaces for either individual or small group contemplation.
